As a country, we have made strides in understanding addiction to be a disease. Treatment, not criminalization, has become a strong rallying cry. However, our treatment resources continue to be woefully inadequate for the scope of the problem. Too many people still consider those that are addicted to drugs or alcohol or both to be morally deficient.

This movement began with one social worker sharing what she learned at a conference with a community leader in Memphis . Today these Champions have engaged an entire community, transforming understanding and response to poverty across a network of care. Be the power of one.
